Caroline Doty

Caroline has been making art since she could hold a paintbrush and paint rainbows. She likes making art because it is fun and enjoys all kinds of art mediums. Caroline was born in Coos Bay, Oregon and moved to Moscow when she was four. She has a dog named Pippa that she likes taking to Robinson or Mountain View Park, and she enjoys attending anime conventions; she has been to ones in Spokane and Seattle. Caroline is a member of the Self Advocate Leadership Network (SALN) and participates in Special Olympics. She also works at Hodgin’s Drug store; Caroline likes her job. At Opportunities Unlimited, she also enjoys going to the animal shelter to volunteer.

Deirdre Gordon

Deirdre's favorite interests include both music and art. She enjoys listening to classical music and songs from stage plays and movies, such as "Oklahoma" and "Sound of Music." As for art, she likes to draw and paint, and take pictures with her camera. Some of these have appeared in the Moscow Art Walk in recent years.

Hannah Jehn

Hannah has been making art her whole life. She says that sometimes people help her make it perfect so it is really their art. Hannah’s art, as she says, is messy and not perfect, but it is hers! Hannah loves mostly to paint. She loves all the colors and finds that every piece is different and awesome. She enjoys art because it is fun and she loves color! Hannah’s interests also include music; she has over 500 songs in her iTunes account. She likes the Top Pop 40 but also enjoys classic rock and folk music. Currently, she is a member of the Self Advocate Leadership Network (SALN), hands out free samples at the Moscow Food Co-op, and shreds paper at Dr. Karen Sept’s DDS office.

Jim Ferguson

Jim lives independently in the Moscow community.

Kyle Bergman

Kyle likes working with his hands, playing video games, and reading Sci-Fi, fantasy, and cook books. He also works at the Guardian Angel which is a nursing home for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Kyle likes to look at art, but has never really done it before and so doesn’t have a favorite art medium. The last time Kyle remembers making art was a long time ago in Coos Bay, OR, and says his sister is usually the artistic one.

Matthew Raiden

Matthew is a student at Moscow High School and has been making art since he was about 10 years old. In his spare time, he likes to go swimming and camping. His favorite kind of art involves painting and he loves using the color red. Matthew enjoys making art because he finds it to be fun and it makes him feel happy while he’s doing it.

Mike Gates

Although Mike has never really considered himself an artist, he first started taking art classes in junior high and has been making art on-and-off for a few years now. His favorite mediums are oil paint and watercolor. He likes making art because it’s a chance for new learning experiences, as well as working with people and overcoming challenges. In the past, he has helped in the community by building & painting a church with his mom, and in his free time he participates and helps out with the Olympics. Mike enjoys reading, watching movies, being outdoors, traveling, working out at the gym, hanging out with friends, and watching & playing sports—his favorite sport is baseball.

Tawny Espy

Tawny has been an artist since she was about 10 years old. Currently, she is the Vice President of Moscow’s Self Advocate Leadership Network (SALN), and enjoys making arts and crafts, crocheting, and jewelry-making in her free time. While she enjoys crafts in general, she also loves interacting with children and listening to music. In addition, she has a service animal named Dakota who helps her with her seizures and provides pet therapy for her and in the nursing homes. Tawny likes making art because she finds it to be very calming, soothing, and therapeutic. She finds all crafts to be that way.

Toby Schultz

Toby has been making art since he was about 30 years old. He is currently a member of the Self Advocate Leadership Network (SALN), works as an office assistant at the Center on Disabilities and Human Development (CDHD), and volunteers at the Moscow Food Co-op on Wednesdays and at the Salvation Army on Tuesdays and Fridays. In his free time, Toby likes to watch movies and make paracord bracelets. Toby’s favorite medium is painting with watercolors, and he enjoys art because it makes him feel relaxed.
