Joshua Bakken

Josh loves playing sports like baseball, basketball, and swimming. He is even involved with the Special Olympics. Though he does not work in the community yet, he enjoys spending his time doing various activities like art. Josh has been an artist for a long time and his favorite way to create art is through paint, but that is not to say he does not try other forms as well!

Sarah Cooley

Sarah likes going out into the community, going for walks, and being with friends. She also likes to volunteer where needed. Sarah is also excited to soon be involved with Special Olympics. Apart from that, she has been doing arts and crafts all of her life, and mostly enjoys using a loom to make scarves and hats, and latch hooking. Sarah likes art because it is just relaxing and fun!

Kenyon Cornelius

Kenyon enjoys art and even has an art room in her home that has a variety of materials to draw and color. Her art room also keeps supplies for crafting potholders, a business she has had for several years. Kenyon is a part of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she assists with making and serving coffee and attends a weekly family group. She also attends the SALN group in Moscow on occasion. Kenyon works in her community of Pullman for Palouse Treasures thrift store and also sells her potholder creations at the Moscow Co-Op. Since primary school Kenyon has enjoyed art because she is creative and thinks art is fun. Kenyon began artwork early and enjoyed her art classes in high school and her community classes. She enjoys crafting potholders and spends several hours a week putting designs together.

Caroline Doty

Caroline is a member of SALN and also works at Hodgins in Moscow. When she is not working, Caroline likes to hang with her friends or play with her dog. As far as art is concerned, Caroline has been doing art for about 5 years and she thinks art is fun. Her favorites are drawing and painting.

Tawny Espy

Tawny has been doing art for about 25 years. She loves to crochet and latch hook, but will do any form of art at her disposal. Her favorite colors are pink, purple, teal, and lime green, and she thinks art is fun and relaxing. When she is not working on a new project, Tawny is involved with other things in the community like Special Olympics, the Community Advisory Committee (CAC), and the Self-Advocate Leadership Network (SALN). She also loves to spend time with her family, listen to music, and watch movies.

Mike Gates

Mike likes sports, working out at Anytime Fitness, and reading if it sparks his interest. He also likes the outdoors, and loves trivia and history. Mike participates in the Special Olympics and attends Trinity Baptist Church. He helps others out in the community, and is also currently looking for a job in sports. Mike likes art to try new things, to express himself with different mediums, meeting other fellow artists, and learning about different colors like “Quimacridone.” He has made art for about 2 years outside of high school and classes. Painting or clay-making are his favorite, but Mike is always willing to try new things too as he feels art is a form of expression. Along with attending artAbility, Mike has also submitted work for ArtWalk in the past.

Deirdre Gordon

Deirdre loves both art and music. She sings, dances, listens to PBS classical music, draws, paints, and takes beautiful photos. For many years she has participated in ArtWalk and other art workshops.

Mary Hanley

Mary likes movies and her favorite are Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Frozen. She is involved with The Buddy Club at MHS and also works at the Moscow Food Co-Op and One World Café. Mary has been making art her whole life, and enjoys art because it is really fun. Her favorite way to make art is drawing.

Erica Hulquist

Erica likes music, the choir, watching scary movies, attending church, and math. She also enjoys golf and bowling. She has a boyfriend who she loves dearly and in the future she wants to learn French. Erica likes art because she likes to play with the colors. Her favorite way to make art is painting and drawing and has been doing so since junior high.

Hannah Jehn

Hannah is an active member of the Self-Advocate Leadership Network (SALN) - Moscow Chapter, where she participates in disability education, advocacy, and fun activities. She has two volunteer jobs in Moscow at Palouse Pediatric Dentistry and the Moscow Food Co-op. Hannah enjoys living in Moscow with its many live music and theatre events. Watercolors are her favorite way to make visual art.

Jessilyn Matthias

Jessilyn graduated from the University of Idaho with an M.S. in Adult Organizational Learning and Leadership. She very interested in supporting non-profit organizations and hopes one day to write and research grants. Jess enjoys reading whatever she can get her hands on, and believes learning is an everyday process. She has also recently been involved with the Moscow Self-Advocacy Leadership Network (SALN). Her new position at the CDHD has made her more connected to her peers in the community. As far as art is concerned, she feels there is something totally individual about it, and loves that there is no right or wrong answers about how it should be. She feels happier and less stressed when she’s allowed to be creative and work things out as she goes. Jess really enjoys painting, but is also interested in mixed-media and digital art. For a sculpturing class in college, she made a structure out of newspapers, papier mache, wires, and clay. She has been drawing pictures since she was very young, but got more serious in high school and college, taking a variety of painting, pottery, and color theory classes.

Matthew Raiden

Matthew has been making art since he was about 10 years old. In his spare time, he likes to go swimming and camping. His favorite kind of art involves painting and he loves using the color red. Matthew enjoys making art because he finds it to be fun and it makes him feel happy while he’s doing it.

Toby Schultz

Toby likes painting, and making paracord bracelets and loom-hats. He works at the Center on Disabilities and Human Development, and is also a part of the Self-Advocate Leadership Network, both locally and statewide. Toby been making art for 20 years and likes art because it is fun and relaxing. Painting on canvas is his favorite medium. He also really enjoys artAbility.

Michyah Smith

Michyah works at a grocery store in town but also likes to hang out with her friends when she has spare time. She did art in school and now does a little art at home as well. Her favorite ways to make art are to paint and draw, and her favorite color is red.

Katherine Stanton

Katherine loves walks around the neighborhood and town, and going to the mall. When she is not working helping with mail at a doctor’s office, Katherine enjoys hanging out with her friends and roommates.

Lois Wenk

Lois has a Bachelors in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Idaho. She enjoys art because it allows her to express her creative self. Though Lois has been making art all of her life, she also enjoys many activities besides art, including camping, cooking, and sewing and also likes computers and politics.

Robin Wenk

Robin has an interest in music and likes barbershop singing and dancing. He has a Bachelors in Religion and Philosophy, and is a part of the National Center for the Blind, Celebrate Recovery, and Canyon Creek Church on the Palouse. Robin finds art relaxing, and has fun being with other people doing the same thing. His favorite way to make art is painting colorfully with watercolors or acrylics. Has been making art sporadically throughout his life.
