Potluck with Journey of Hope Team

On Sunday, June 10th from 5:00-8:00PM, families with children with disabilities are encouraged to attend a potluck and swim party at the Pullman Aquatic Center in Pullman, Washington. The swim party is free and everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and a side dish to share at the potluck. The potluck will begin at 5:30PM. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided.

The Ability Experience is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves people with disabilities. The Ability Experience was founded in 1977 as the national philanthropy of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity with the purpose of instilling lifelong service in its members and enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities. One way that the Ability Experience raises awareness and funding is through the Journey of Hope.

The Journey of Hope is a cross-country cycling event that covers 32 different states and it is solely comprised of members of Pi Kappa Phi spreading a message of acceptance and understanding for people with disabilities. After riding an average of 75 miles a day, you won't find team members napping or preparing for the next day's ride. They will be dancing at a friendship visit with a local group that supports people with disabilities, participating in a game of wheelchair basketball, performing puppet shows to educate children on the abilities of people with disabilities, and learning life lessons that will impact them for the rest of their lives.

While in Pullman, the Journey of Hope team members will be swimming and eating with Families Together! The event will begin at 5:00PM with food served at 5:30PM at Military Hill Park Pavilion (located above the Pullman Indoor Aquatic Center at 500 NW Larry St. in Pullman). Then, the swimming will begin at 6:00PM. This will be a blast!!

Respectfully RSVP through Eventbrite under “Potluck with Journey of Hope.”
