Gain professional certification
Community Based Supports (CBS) is a professional certification course for those who want to work with children with disabilities. This course is required by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare to provide services.
Please review all the information on this page to ensure you don’t experience any delays in accessing and completing your CBS training.
Purchase and access CBS training
Students can purchase and complete the course as needed. There are no registration deadlines.
Training costs $10 per student. Payment must be made by credit card.
Purchase CBS training through University of Idaho’s Keep Learning System:
- Visit the Keep Learning CBS course page.
- Click ‘Add to Cart’ and follow the on-screen prompts to complete your purchase.
Note, there is some processing time between purchasing the training and accessing your account. This may take a few hours.
When your account is ready, you will receive an email from Canvas, University of Idaho's Keep Learning LMS. It will include a link to access your account. Alternatively, you can access your Keep Learning Student Portal here.

Complete CBS training and print a certificate
You will complete four learning modules, which include three reflective questions and three quizzes. You must score a minimum of 80% on each quiz. You can take the quizzes as many times as you need to achieve a passing score.
The entire training will take around three to four hours to complete.
Grades are processed every Tuesday and Thursday (excluding public holidays). You will receive a notification when your grade has been posted.
Once your grade has been posted, it takes around 24 hours for your certificate to be available for print through your student portal.
To print your certificate:
- Log in to your student portal.
- Select 'My Enrollment History' under the Student Home menu on the left side of the screen.
- Click the print button to the right of the course description.
- Select 'Course Certificate Completion' from the drop down menu and click print.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to print your certificate or save it as a PDF.
Request a new certificate
If you lose your certificate, you may be able to access a new one, depending on when you completed your training:
- After June 25, 2024: Log in to your Keep Learning Student Portal to print your certificate at any time.
- Between January 1, 2017 and June 24, 2024: Email the CDHD to request a certificate.
- Before January 1, 2017: We do not keep records prior to this date. You will need to purchase and complete the training again.
