Community Based Supports (CBS) is a professional certification course for those who want to work with children with disabilities. It's required by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare to provide services.

Students can register and complete the course as needed. There are no registration deadlines.

The training costs $10 per student. Payment must be made by credit card.

Access your training

There is some processing time between purchasing the training and accessing your account. When your account is ready, you will receive a confirmation email from Canvas. Note, this can take a few hours.

Complete CBS training

The training includes a ‘Course Information’ module and four learning modules.

You must complete all four learning modules. This includes three reflective questions and three quizzes. You must score a minimum of 80% on each quiz. You can take them as many times as you need to achieve a passing score.

The entire training will take around 3-4 hours to complete.

Drop the course and receive a refund

You have 14 days to drop this course and receive an automatic refund. Visit the Keep Learning FAQ for more information on how to drop a course.

If the course is not dropped within 14 days from purchase, a refund will not be issued.

Print a Certificate of Completion

Grades are processed every Wednesday (excluding public holidays).

If you complete your course requirements by 11:59 pm MT on Tuesday, your certificate will be available by Friday that week. If your course requirements are completed after 11:59 pm MT on Tuesday, certificates will be delivered by Friday of the next week.

To print your certificate:

  1. Log in to Canvas.
  2. Select 'My Enrollment History' under the Student Home menu on the left side of the screen.
  3. Click the print button to the right of the course description.
  4. Select 'Course Certificate Completion' from the drop down menu and click print.
  5. Follow the onscreen prompts to save as a PDF or print your certificate. 

Unofficial transcripts are available at no charge through your Canvas account at any time. Official transcripts are also available for purchase. Visit the Keep Learning FAQ for more information on how to access transcripts.

Request a new certificate

If you lose your certificate, you may be able to access a new one, depending on when you completed your training: 

  • After June 25, 2024: Log in to Canvas to print your certificate at any time.
  • Between January 1, 2017 and June 24, 2024: Email the CDHD to request a certificate.
  • Before January 1, 2017: We do not keep records prior to this date. You will need to purchase and complete the training again.

Existing CBS student accounts

If you purchased CBS training before June 25, 2024, you'll have access to your account until June 28, 2024.

If you do not complete your course before June 28, a Canvas account will be set up for you to complete the training. We will contact you directly with information on how to access your new account.

If you do not hear from us within two weeks (July 12, 2024), please email the Idaho CDHD (idahocdhd@uidaho.edu).

Those who have completed their training and printed their certificate will not be affected.
