Idaho SESTA and Idaho Training Clearinghouse (ITC) have collaborated to create a new digital space focused on complex learners. The Complex Learners topic page was designed as a user-friendly information hub for special education teachers and other service providers. Those who work with students with highly complex learning needs can connect with specific information and resources that support their students. The ultimate goal is to build positive educational experiences. “Our team has been working to figure out how we can best support Idaho educators who are working with learners with complex needs,” said Stacee Dineen, Statewide SESTA Coordinator and one of the minds behind the new Complex Learners page. Fellow Coordinators Brooke Barnhill and Kylie Atkinson helped in developing this resource. “One of the ways we hope to do this is to make information readily accessible and easy to find on the Idaho Training Clearinghouse. We plan to continue adding more resources as they are developed, and as we learn what is most needed and what will be most helpful to educators,” Stacee continued. Currently, educators can access modules, trainings and tools that strengthen programming and help to build the right supports in classrooms and schools. The information provided is curated to ensure increased student access, participation and outcomes. Users are invited to explore information related to: assessment instruction behavior intervention secondary transition assistive technology. This intuitive page organizes content based on relevant, easy-to-search topics. And being online, these resources are available to anyone at any time. For those who need more support, Idaho SESTA Statewide Behavioral Coordinators can help. Individual or program-wide professional development, coaching and technical assistance is available. This can include consultations, follow-up trainings, problem-solving, and guidance on putting evidence-based practices into place. Beyond the Complex Learners page, both ITC and Idaho SESTA offer access to a huge range of special education information, resources and trainings. Idaho educators across the state can access these for free through their respective websites. This includes ITC’s extensive Online Resource Library with hundreds of resources available.
