New self-advocacy training! Healthy Relationships

Idaho Living Well has released another training in their Self-Advocacy Training Series. The latest installment is called Healthy Relationships. And, as the title suggests, it focuses on aspects of developing and maintaining relationships in your life.

You will learn how to have healthy and happy relationships and what to do if something doesn’t seem right.

You will complete four learning modules:

  • What is a Relationship
  • Understanding Yourself and the People Around You
  • Dating and Healthy Relationships
  • Speaking up and Setting Boundaries in Relationships
  • Your Body and Sexuality.

This is an online, self-paced training that is completely FREE to take. No registration is required. Simply visit the Self-Advocacy Training Series page on the CDHD website and click the Healthy Relationships link to begin your training.

Self-Advocacy Training Series

Developed by the Idaho Living Well project, the Self-Advocacy Training Series is a series of trainings that focus on important life and career development topics. These trainings offer information and resources that are relevant to individuals, their families and providers – all will find value in completing them.

The ultimate goal is to provide people with disabilities the tools needed to advocate, protect and guide their own lives. This is achieved through evidence-based approaches that align with person-centered thinking and self-determination.

There are three trainings to choose from:

  • Supported Decision Making
  • What is Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation
  • Healthy Relationships.

The first two trainings are available in English and Spanish. A Spanish version of Healthy Relationships is coming soon.

If you’d like more information about the series, or if you have any questions, please contact Jen Magelky-Seiler (jmagelkyseiler@uidaho.edu).
