October 31, 2022 By CDHD Fall Front and Center is out now! The leaves have turned. The temperatures have dropped. It can only mean one thing. Fall is upon us and so too is the latest edition of our Front and Center newsletter. The fall Front and Center covers August to October, and in true CDHD fashion, we packed a lot in! IdahoSTARS has been collaborating with the Idaho School Readiness Project to increase developmental screenings for children in child care settings. The initiative is showing early trends of fine motor skills and communication skills as areas of concern. The work has also engaged families in supporting healthy development. Melissa Crist has once again been named the Act Early Ambassador for Idaho. Find out how her work will continue to support healthy development in Idaho’s children. The Idaho Assistive Technology Project, in collaboration with the CDHD and Idaho Training Clearinghouse has launched A11y Idaho. This community of practice focuses on creating accessible materials, with free training sessions offered each month. Speaking of new initiatives, the CDHD has also partnered up with the University of Idaho in Project ECLIPSE. This program will increase competitive integrated employment opportunities on campuses across Idaho. Read more about the new grant and how it will help students with disabilities. We also welcomed 15 (!) student trainees to the Center this semester. That includes five returning and 10 new University of Idaho students. Check out Front and Center to meet them all and learn a little bit more about them. In this edition you’ll also find a whole list of training and event dates as well as a round of up of Center and project annual reports.
