What to expect

If you’ve never attended a Movement in the Park session, don’t worry! We’ve got you covered. This is an accessible exercise class that is open to everyone. That means all ages, all abilities and all fitness levels. Even better, it’s completely free!

Sessions run for approximately one hour and offer group exercise and activities in a fun and supportive environment. They focus on working the arms, legs, core and/or cardio, with adaptive alternative movements offered to suit every ability.

The goal is to help participants meet the CDC recommended 150 minutes of movement per week.

Instructors

Movement in the Park is instructed by our CDHD Student Trainees. This semester, Isabella Gilmore, Emily Pearson and Haley Sprague have returned to lead the classes.

You can find out more about each on the Healthy Active Lifestyles project webpage.

Healthy Active Lifestyles

Movement in the Park is part of our Healthy Active Lifestyles (HAL) project, which works to improve physical, emotional and social health outcomes for people with disabilities.

In addition to Movement in the Park, HAL offers NatureFit Adventures and Healthy Cooking Classes. The former is an outdoor exploration group that explores different locations in the Moscow area. Everyone is welcome!

Healthy Cooking Classes are exactly as they sound – beginner cooking classes for people with disabilities, providing hands-on classes focused on preparing easy, healthy dishes at home.

Visit the Healthy Active Lifestyles website for all the details on getting involved in all HAL programs.
